Verified Carbon Standard

Many carbon-reduction projects adhere to the Verified Carbon Standard, which requires reductions to be measurable, independently verified, unique, and permanent. Projects with impermanent reductions must have mechanisms in place to compensate for reversals.

Other projects adhere to the Gold Standard, a flexible program that sets standards based on the project's goals and scope.
