Calculating Scope 3 Emissions
In order to be able to report accurate carbon emissions, companies are required to be able to calculate their scope 3 emissions. As highlighted above this can be easier said than done. The first step should be supplier engagement. All vendors should undergo a mandatory registration as part of the procurement process. During this process, a company can share its emissions targets and requirements with prospective and existing suppliers.
Automating Data Collection
Ideally to facilitate data collection, the transfer of information should be automated through a digital Monitoring, Reporting and Verification system.
